RAD1901
Novel tissue-selective estrogen receptor modulator for menopausal hot flashes
RAD1901 is potentially the first of a new class of selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs) that could relieve vasomotor symptoms (hot flashes) without the side effects associated with hormone therapy. In preclinical studies, RAD1901 demonstrated the potential to reduce or prevent the hot flashes associated with menopause with a simultaneous bone-protective effect, without stimulating breast or uterine tissues. In Phase 1 clinical trials, RAD1901 showed a favorable safety profile. In a four-week Phase 2a study, RAD1901 established clinical proof of concept, achieving a statistically significant reduction in frequency of moderate and severe hot flashes.
Development stage: Radius plans to confirm results of the Phase 2a study through a larger Phase 2 clinical trial with a longer duration of treatment.
